Many people live or work in cities. I also live in a huge city. However, although I am used to the city buildings, city lights, and city noise, I do not seem to have a deep affection for the city. A city becomes beautiful only when it is in harmony with nature. Photographs in which the shape and color of artificial structures match the appearance and color of nature are interesting to me.
Autumn leaves in Korea are very beautiful. The colorful paintings that adorn the pillars and rafters of traditional Korean buildings (called "Dancheong, 단청" in Korean) resemble the autumn foliage of Korea's nature. The ancestors of Koreans may have wanted to show us that artificial buildings become more beautiful when they harmonize with nature.
